T34
The T-34 was a Soviet medium tank developed by the Kharkiv Locomotive Factory and introduced in 1940 by the Soviet Union. It became one of the most important armored vehicles of World War II. Designed with sloped armor, a powerful 76.2 mm (later 85 mm) gun, wide tracks, and good mobility, the T-34 was highly effective against early German tanks and performed well in harsh terrain and winter conditions. Production was carried out at multiple Soviet factories, including the Kharkiv plant and others relocated east during the war. Between 1940 and 1945, roughly 57,000 T-34s were built, and when later variants are included the total rises to over 84,000 units, making it one of the most-produced tanks in history. Its combination of firepower, protection, reliability, and relatively simple mass production made it a decisive factor in many Eastern Front battles and a key contributor to Soviet armored success during the war.
