Matilda
The Matilda II was a heavily armored British infantry tank used during World War II. Introduced in 1939, it was famous for its extremely thick armor for the time, which made it very difficult for early German anti-tank weapons to destroy. The Matilda II was armed with a 2-pounder (40 mm) gun and was designed to move slowly alongside infantry, providing protection and firepower during attacks. It performed especially well during early battles in North Africa, where its armor made it almost unstoppable against many enemy weapons. However, as the war progressed, stronger German guns and faster tanks reduced its effectiveness, and it was gradually replaced by more modern British tanks.
