P40 Tank

P40

The P40 was an Italian medium tank developed during World War II as a response to encountering heavily armored Allied tanks. Introduced in 1943, it was armed with a 75 mm main gun capable of engaging most Allied armor at the time and featured improved frontal armor compared to earlier Italian designs. Weighing around 26–30 tons, the P40 combined better protection and firepower but was still slower and mechanically less reliable than comparable Allied tanks. Only a small number were produced before Italy’s armistice, and they saw limited combat, primarily in defensive actions against advancing Allied forces.
